My name is Bailey

Yes, Bailey, like the much loved Christmas alcoholic beverage. I'm a Canadian illustrator and content creator living and working in London, UK.

Coming from Canada, you can see a lot of Canadian influence in my work, often bringing in elements of nature, and Northern animals. I started this illustration project as a way to work my art practice into my life - while balancing a 9-5 full time job- and hold myself accountable to creating everyday, and improving my work.

I began a small business called ‘Sun and Cedar’ at 18, where I printed my illustrations on t-shirts, stickers, and stationary, and travelled around Canada selling at craft shows. Not only was I able to pay for University through my project, but I also gained loads of experience while spending time improving my artwork. Shortly after that, I got the travel bug and decided to move to the UK, where I found myself working for other people in the Film industry, and decided to take on a full-time job. This of course caused me to take a break from my illustration practice. During the pandemic of 2020 was when I decided to jump back into my creative processes, and for the first time I have decided to take my illustrations seriously and build my own career.

As I build my portfolio and experiment with creative projects, I will be sharing my successes and failures across my socials, and in depth looks into my journey on YouTube.

Artist Statement:

In no way do I try to make my art realistic, instead I aim to make my viewer question what they are seeing. Merging earth tones with vibrant colours with folk art elements, to evoke a sense of nostalgia and connection to nature through both digital and physical painting. Heavily inspired by my childhood in the wilderness of Canada, I bring an element of secluded introspection with every piece.
